SILVICULTURAL SYSTEM

Silvicultural system is a series of planned forest management activities include planning activities, harvesting and land preparation, seeding, planting and maintenance to ensure the productivity and sustainability of forest products.

Based on its natural condition and suitability, Sarpatim applies two (2) silvicultural systems, namely:
1. The Indonesian Selective Cutting with ReplantingSystem (TPTI).
    • Silviculture system for uneven aged timber stands
    • Harvesting technique with selective cutting
    • Increasing forest productivity
    • Maintaining biodiversity
2. Selective Cutting with Line Planting System (TPTJ).
    • TPTJ the same as TPTI except for allowing a system of intensive planting with select species

Every year, Sarpatim planting not less than 1.2 million trees and of course all be properly maintained.

In line with the various research and development activities continue to be done to obtain good seeds, monitoring of growth/development of plants, monitoring of the impact of operational activities. These research activities conducted in collaboration with universities, experts and NGOs.

GUARANTEE OF CROPS FOR FUTURE REGENERATIONS

Sarpatim has aggregate nursery area of 10 ha, located on the Bahan River. The nursery is equipped with supporting facilities in the form of seed production: green house, building preparation of growing media and compost, shading area, drainage network and automatic watering and pruning the garden. It is also equipped with a residential complex for employees and an education and training hall.

Production of seedlings from the nursery has reached 1.4 million stems per year, consisting of various types of timber plants.
